Thomas Cassingham (Sr.) was born in 1777 in Kent County, England. He died in 1845 at the age of 68 in Muskingum County, Ohio and was buried there. On 11 April 1801, at age 24, he married Phoebe Ford at St. Mary the Virgin in Orlestone, Kent, England. She was born in England between 1780-1790. She died in Oct 1838 in Muskingum County, Ohio. Thomas and and a very pregnant Phoebe emigrated to the United States in 1818 arriving at Baltimore on 26 Oct 1818 along with their, then, six sons and one daughter. Five more children were born to them in the U.S.
NotesThomas and family arrived in Baltimore from England on 26 Oct 1818 as related in Thomas' Citizenship Oath. Elizabeth was born five days later. Thomas became a U. S. citizen on 16 December 1823 in Muskingum County, Ohio. Thomas and Phoebe were lifetime members of the Methodist church.
