Florence L. Bright 1924 - 2004 Florence L. Bright, 80, Chanute, died Friday, Aug. 20, 2004, at North Kansas City Hospital. She was born April 7, 1924, in Leanna, the daughter of Elmer and Pearl Cassingham Brown. She was a cook in the Chanute school district for many years. She was a member of the Elks and VFW Ladies Auxiliary, both in Chanute. She enjoyed reading and sewing. On Jan. 4, 1945, she married Earl W. Oliver in Chanute. He died Dec. 13, 1977. On Aug. 31, 1982, she married Robert Bright in Chanute. He died in 1997. Survivors include a daughter, Janice Weis, Kansas City, Mo.; a son, Phillip Oliver, Lee's Summit, Mo.; a brother, Homer Brown, Apache Junction, Ariz.; three grandchildren and one great-grandson. She was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 27, at the funeral home, led by the Rev. R.A. Pefley. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Chanute. Memorials to the American Heart Association may be left with the funeral home. Penwell-Gabel Johnson Chapel, Chanute, is in charge of arrangements. |
