Paul James Essick (Sr.) is the son of Ida May Edwards and Edward Abraham Essick. He was born 8 Jul 1916 in Redondo Beach, Los Angeles, California and died 25 Jul 1984 at age 68 in Fresno County, California.

On 19 Mar 1947, he married Louise Katherine Bleichner in Caruthers, Fresno, California. She was born 1 Jul 1927 in Tulbing, Austria.

Notes

Paul Sr.: Paul's sister, Ida, tells us: Paul was a member of the Air Force in World War II stationed in England, France and Austria. He was on a crash crew (firefighting), and was awarded a commendation for helping to rescue a downed pilot who was trapped in his plane. When he first arrived home, he farmed with his father, who was in poor health by then. He bought acreage across the road from the home place and worked both. After a few years (1950), his father passed away and he sold his place and became a firefighter for the Calif. Dept. of Forestry. He brought his wife, Louise, over from Austria after WWII - they were married in the Methodist Church in Caruthers.
