Leona P. Miller is the daughter of Overton Lee Miller and Susan Elizabeth Herndon. She was born 16 April 1897 in Monroe county, West Virginia. She died 13 December 1996 at age 99 in Sinks Grove, Monroe, West Virginia.

On 26 November 1914, at age 17, she married Ray Peck Beckett, who was age 27, at her father's home in Monroe county, West Virginia. He is the son of James Daniel Beckett and Eliza Ann Peck and the older brother of Emile Beckett who married Leona's older brother Clyde. He was born 13 April 1887 in Pickaway, Monroe, West Virginia. He died 5 July 1952 at age 65 in Ronceverte, Greenbrier, West Virginia. He was buried 7 July 1952 at Lebanon Cemetery, Greenbrier, West Virginia.

1. James Daniel Beckett was born 30 March 1916 in West Virginia. He died 23 January 2005 at age 88 in Monroe county, West Virginia. On 26 January 2005, he was buried at New Lebanon Cemetery, Pickaway, Monroe, West Virginia.
   • He married Catherine Maxine Christie. Maxine, as she is known, is the daughter of Lewis Floyd Christie and Malinda Alice Lemons. She was born 9 April 1912 in Monroe county, West Virginia. She died 11 November 1994 at age 82. She is buried at New Lebanon Cemetery, Pickaway, Monroe, West Virginia.

Leona's birth is listed in the West Virginia Birth Index, but the date shown is completely different that what appears on her Social Security account. Generally I would believe the birth record over Social Security, but the 1900 census agrees with Social Security - not with the birth record.
