Powhatan Miller Baber (Sr.) is the son of Virginia Susan Miller and Charles Alexander Baber. He was born 5 March 1883 in Indian Mills, Summers, West Virginia. He died 8 April 1929 at age 46 in Roswell, Chaves, New Mexico. He is buried at Hilsboro Cemetery, Hilsboro, Loudoun, Virginia.

On 29 March 1911, at age 28, he married Elsie I. Christie, who was age 22, in Montgomery, Fayette, West Virginia. She is the daughter of Lewis Floyd Christie and Melinda Alice Lemons. She was born 30 September 1888 in Sinks Grove, Monroe, West Virginia. She died 19 May 1964 at age 75 in Morgantown, Monongalia, West Virginia.

2. Helen Virginia Baber was born 27 April 1915 in Princeton, Mercer, West Virginia. She died 2 August 2003 at age 88 in Sun City, Maricopa, Arizona.
   • On 19 January 1935, at age 19, she married Charles Melvin Young, who was age 23, in Cumberland, Allegany, Maryland. He is the son of Albert C. Young and Etta Blanche Coulter. He was born 4 November 1911. He died 21 November 1978 at age 67 in Greer, Greenville, South Carolina.
3. Powhatan Miller Baber (Jr.) was born 19 February 1917 in Clarksburg, Harrison, West Virginia.
4. Mary Jean Baber was born 28 January 1920 in Clarksburg, Harrison, West Virginia.
5. Elizabeth Ann Baber was born 31 December 1926 in Roswell, Chaves, New Mexico.
