Serena Plunkett Edds is the daughter of Mary Jane Scott and James Edgar Edds. She was born 29 May 1856 in Monroe county, West Virginia (though then it was Virginia). She died 21 August 1941 at age 85 at her home in Los Angeles, Los Angeles, California. She was buried 23 August 1941 at Inglewood Park Cemetery, Inglewood, California.

On 29 September 1880, at age 24, she married Samuel Fletcher Bare, who was age 24, in Hinton, Summers, West Virginia. He is the son of Jacob Watson Bare and Elizabeth P. Chambers. He was born 24 August 1856 in Monroe county, West Virginia (then called Virginia). He died 20 March 1912 at age 55 in Alderson, Greenbrier, West Virginia.

1. Effie F. Bare was born 8 December 1881 in Alderson, Greenbrier, West Virginia. She died 19 June 1974 at age 92 in Glendale, Los Angeles, California.
   • On 26 December 1898, at age 17, she married Robert C. Slaughter, who was age 20, in Greenbrier county, West Virginia. He is the son of Arthur T. Slaughter and Mary Sue Mahood. He was born in August 1878 in Kanawha county, West Virginia. This marriage ended in divorce.
2. Edgar Bare was born about August 1883 in Alderson, Greenbrier, West Virginia. He died 10 February 1890 at age 6 in Alderson, Greenbrier, West Virginia. On 11 February 1890, he was buried at Alderson, Greenbrier, West Virginia.
3. Roy Bare was born 28 July 1885 in West Virginia. He died 14 December 1965 at age 80 in Los Angeles county, California.
   • About 1914, he married Amelia. She was born 17 December 1886 in Ohio. She died 17 July 1960 at age 73 in Los Angeles county, California.
4. Porter Bare was born 28 October 1887 in Alderson, Greenbrier, West Virginia. He died 26 January 1890 at age 2 in Alderson, Greenbrier, West Virginia. On 27 January 1890, he was buried at Alderson, Greenbrier, West Virginia.
5. Rush Bare was born 2 August 1892 in Alderson, Greenbrier, West Virginia.

Notes

In the 1910 census, Serena indicated that she had given birth to 5 children, but only 3 of them were still living at that time. I have only been able to positively identify one of the deceased children (Porter). However, the death record for Edgar makes him a reasonable candidate but I am not absolutely certain that he is Serena's son.
