On 10 November 1909, at age 25, he married Orpha Pearl Staples, who was age 21, in Whitley county, Indiana. She is the daughter of Byron Staples and Lora Fredline. She was born 22 June 1888 in Whitley county, Indiana. She died 30 June 1972 at age 84. She is buried at Memorial Park Cemetery, Memphis, Shelby, Tennessee.
