James Edward Burdette

Burdette, James Edward, 72, passed away May 26, 2010, after a long, courageous battle with cancer. Eddie was born on October 6, 1937, in St. Augustine, Florida, to James Calvin and Susan Bell Burdette. His family moved to Phoenix, Arizona in 1947, where he attended West High, Phoenix College and Arizona State University. While still at ASU, he went to work for Bashas' Markets, where he was Produce Supervisor for many years. He loved working for Bashas' and retired in 2002 after 43 years with them. He served on Bashas' Pension Board for many years and also held various positions with Bashas' Federal Credit Union. Eddie and his wife built their dream home in Sedona and moved there in 2006. They loved their home on the golf course and their many friends in the Village of Oak Creek. He enjoyed playing golf and served on the VOCA Board until his illness forced him to resign. Eddie was a beloved husband, father and grandfather, as well as good friend to all. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Christine, son, Kevin, and five grandchildren, Andrew, Collin, Taylor, Cameron and Jackson. He was predeceased by his brother, Richard. A "celebration of life" will be held at their home in Sedona on Friday, June 4, from 5 to 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the American Cancer Society .
