Dr. Clarence M. Ashburn, 78

RIDGEVILLE - Dr. Clarence M. Ashburn, 78, of Ridgeville, died Monday evening, April 4, 2005 at Ball Memorial Hospital after a lengthy illness.

He was born on July 31, 1926, in Huntington, West Virginia, the son of Clarence and Clora Fay Miller Ashburn. Dr. Ashburn graduated from Pharmacy College of University of Cincinnati; and from the University of Louisville Medical School in 1962. He was a member of Delaware-Blackford County Medical Association; the American Board of Anesthesiology; Indiana Medical Association; was a U.S. Navy veteran of WW II; and volunteered for hospice after he retired from active medical practice at Ball Memorial Hospital and Muncie Eye Center in 1995.

Survivors include his wife, Evelyn R.; two sons, Charles Michael Ashburn and William David Ashburn; a daughter, Rebecca Jean Clark; three step-daughters, Deborah, Lindy, and Susan; four grandsons, Jason, Adam, Michael and Andrew; two granddaughters Jennifer, Stephanie; five step-grandsons Charlie, Andrew, Jeffrey, Maurice and Frank; four step-granddaughters Zoe, Rachel, Chava, and Ember; three great grandsons, Jadon, Alex, Aaron.

Dr. Ashburn was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Imogene Davis; a sister, Helen Gabhart and a niece, Diana Gabhart.

Memorial services will be held Friday, April 8, 2005 at 4:00 p.m. in the chapel of The Meeks Mortuary and Crematory.

Family will receive friends Friday, April 8, 2005 from 2:00 until 4: 00 p.m. at The Meeks Mortuary and Crematory.
