Ralph Peter Baker Obituary

Ralph Peter Baker of the 6400 block of Dove St., a retired Air Frame Mechanic, died Jan. 7, 1994, in a Norfolk hospital.

Mr. Baker was a native of Milton, N.C. He retired from Naval Air Station, Norfolk, Civil Conservation Corps., in 1983 after 40 years of service. He was a member of Norview Southern Baptist Church in Norfolk. He was a loving and devoted husband and father, who shared many personal humorous stories and always listened. He was a member of Norfolk Moose Lodge 39 and was formerly a Sunday school teacher in South Boston, Virginia. He was a member of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers Union. He was awarded a Craftsmanship Award by NARF during his employment.

Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Alice Powell Baker; three daughters, Martha Lee Spencer and her husband Dan and their three children of Grass Valley, California, Margy Cecilia Baker of Norfolk, Clara Ellen Baker of Norfolk; three sons, Ralph James Baker and Janis Elliott and their three children of Pasadena, California, Robert Walton Baker of Virginia Beach, Bernard Michael Baker of Pasadena, California; and a sister, Winsome Puryear of South Boston, Virginia.

A church service will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Norview Baptist Church by Reverend James Bradshaw. Burial will be at Forest Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends in H.D. Oliver Funeral Apts., Norfolk, Monday from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m.
