FIRST GENERATION
1. Henry ELLER Immigrant (R:282, ID:) was born about 1726 in GER. He died in 1788 in Frederick Co. MD..

Has not been proven, but researchers think this Henry Eller is the Henry Eller that came to America on the ship "Neptune" from Rotterdam. He took oath of allegiance in Pennsylvania Oct. 25, 1746. He is believed also to be the brother of George Michael Eller. They both acquired land called Hammond Strife on the waters of Little Pipe Creek in Frederick Co., MD. They are also believed to have belonged to the Church of the Brethern, sometimes called "Dunkers" or "Dunkards". This sect is believed to have formed from the German Baptist Brethern which started in Germany and was brought to Germantown, PA. about 1719. This information comes from the book - George Michael Eller and Descendants of his in America, compiled by James W. Hook of New Haven, Conn. and published Oct. 15, 1957. Pages 11, 12, 13 & 14 includes information on Henry Eller. Balance of the book pertains to George Michael Eller & his descendants. However, there is some mention of Henry's son Henry and family settling in Miami Co., near Dayton, Ohio.


He was married to Elizabeth BIGLER (R:283, ID:) (daughter of Mark BIGLER (R:954, ID:) and Catherine UNKNOWN (R:955, ID:)) about 1750 in Frederick Co., MD. (M-81) Elizabeth BIGLER (R:283, ID:) was born about 1735 in MD. She died between 1790 and 1800 in Frederick Co. MD..

Elizabeth is d/o Mark Bigler & Catherine. Elizabeth Eller a widow was last on the 1790 Census of Frederick Co., MD.

2. Joseph ELLER (R: 284, ID:) was born between 1750 and 1755 in Frederick Co., MD.

Joseph Eller was over 45 in the 1800 Cencus of Frederick Co., MD. and so was his wife, He had 5 daughters and 3 sons. This is all the information we have on this family, He appears on the 1810 Census for Washington Co., MD. 1820 Census he is not even in the Maryland Index.

He was married to Elizabeth GRABILL (R:284, ID:) (M- 516) Elizabeth GRABILL (R:284, ID:) was born about 1754 in prob Frederick Co., MD.

Elizabeth Grabill w/o Joseph Eller and sister Frances (Fannie, etc/) were daughters of Peter & (Mary?) Grabill Sr., as named in his 11 March 1811 Will proved in Frederick Co., MD 2 Nov 1812. Frances married Henry Eller II, brother to Joseph Eller. Joseph & Henry Eller II or Jr., sons of Henry & Elizabeth Bigler Eller.

Maria Elizabeth Eller was baptized 7 Nov. 1752 by Rev. John Casper Stover, Jr.


She was married to Christian HERTER (R:295, ID:) about 1774 in prob. Frederick Co., MD. (M-82) Christian HERTER (R:295, ID:) died in 1825 in Lanier Twp., Preble Co., OH. He was born 1774 (sic.).

s/o Johannes George Herter & Eva. Other spellings: Harter & Haster.

Christian Herter and family moved 1794 to Franklin Co.,VA. and about 1805 to Montgomery Co.,OH and was on 1820 Census, Preble Co.,OH. There was probably a ninth child; however name unknown Children's Marriages in Franklin Co., VA - Date Bonds Issued.

5. Henry, Jr. ELLER (R:287, ID:) was born about 1762 in MD. He died in 1832 in Randolph Twp., Montgomery Co, Ohio.

The research on Henry Eller, Jr.'s family was done by Gale Edwin Spitzer Honeyman, 470 Grove #2, San Francisco, CA 94102, Phone 415-552- 3023. I talked with him by phone May 1988 when John & I visited our son Bob in Calif. who lives near Santa Clara & San Jose Calif. Gale Honeyman told me he also had information on Jacob Eller Sr.'s wife Margaret Williard's/Willard's mother's family, the Gumps. This he later sent to me .

Gale also published his research in the "Eller Chronicles" a new publication on Eller research. This helped confirm some of my own research. His third Great Grandparents were Mary Eller, 2nd child of Henry Eller, Jr. and her husband Jacob Albaugh. Gale is a member of the Church of the Brethern, which started with Henry Eller, Sr. who settled in Maryland in the latter 1700's.

Henry Eller, Jr. left Maryland and settled in Montgomery Co., Ohio. He died in 1832 in same county, Will Bk. B, p. 194, filed Sept. 22, 1832. Wife Francis died c. 1838.

He was married to Frances "Fronica" GRABILL (R:297, ID:) (daughter of ). (M-84) Frances "Fronica" GRABILL (R:297, ID:) was born about 1765 in probably MD. She died about 1838 in Montgomery Co., OH.

Frances (Fanny, Frainey, Fronica) Grabill, w/o Henry Eller, Jr. and sister Elizabeth, are daughters of Peter and (Mary?) Grabill, Sr. as named in his 11 march 1811 Will, proved in Frederick Co., MD 2 Nov. 1812. Elizabeth married Joseph Eller older brother of Henry Eller, husband of Francis.

6. Jacob, Sr. ELLER Farmer (R:276, ID:) was born about 1764 in MD. He died in 1831 in MD. He was buried in Nr. Burkittsville, Frederick Co., MD.

Jacob Eller, Sr. Died or was Buried - 8 MAY 1831.

According to Book published in Missouri - Pioneer Families of Missouri, page 398, pub 18 ?. - Article mostly about sons of Jacob, Jr. & Elias Eller, it states:

Jacob Eller married Margaret Willard and they had: Philip; George; Daniel; John; Sally; Susan; Margaret; Jacob, Jr.; & Elias.
(Note: I have never heard of a Phillip, must have been an error.) I know that Jacob, Jr. & Elias were brothers to Peter Eller of Marshall Co., WV. According to Census records of Frederick Co., MD in 1800, they had 2 males under 10 and 1 Female under 10, Parents age 26-45. In 1810 Washington Co., MD Census they had 1 M under 10, 1 M 10-16 and 1 F under 10, 1 F 10-16, parents again 26-45. In 1820 Census Frederick Co., MD they had 1 M under 10; 2 M 16-26; 1 F 16-26; 1 F 26-45; and parents 45 and up. I will record five children as a result, and use Sally & Susan for the girls names. Since I know of Jacob, Jr., Elias and Peter, I will record these names, I question the others. No record in 1830 in these counties for Jacob, Sr. & family; however record was found of Jacob Eller, Jr. who was married and had 1 M under 5, 1 Male 60-70 (Who was probably Jacob, Sr.) living with them; and 1 female under 5; and Jacob, Sr,(Jr. sic [ADE]) & wife both age 20-30. Jacob, Jr. and family was found in 1840 in Callaway Co., MO. In the 1850 Census, Jacob, Jr. was listed as Jacob ELLA in error, Callaway Co., MO.

Frederick Co., MD. (M- 80) Eva Margaret WILLIARD (R:277, ID:) was born on August 27, 1765 in Frederick Co., MD. She died between 1820 and 1830 in Frederick Co., MD.

8. Daniel ELLER (R:289, ID:) was born about 1769 in Virginia or Maryland. He died after 1850.

  Daniel Eller, 7th child of Henry Eller & Elizabeth Bigler and he apparently was living with his mother in the 1790 census of Frederick Co., MD. One son was 16 & upwards, and one son was under 16, Daniel would be the elder, and youngest child in this family would be Peter, age about 10 yrs. old.

The 1810, 1820, & 1830 Census of PA, shows a Daniel Eller in Index for Fayette Co. Could find no record of him after that, In 1810 he was in George Twp. and 1820 was in Redstone Twp.; and in 1830 was in Menhallen Twp., PA. My husband John and I went to Uniontown, PA. in 1987 to do research on this family, and could find no trace of them. There was no record of him buying or selling property. He did not appear on the 1840 PA Census.

She was married to Jacob, II GARBER (R:323, ID:) on December 3, 1793 in Carroll Co., MD. (M-99) Jacob, II GARBER (R:323, ID:) was born on May 14, 1767 in Nr. Johnsville, MD. s/o Jacob; He died on January 19, 1852 in Jefferson Twp., Richland Co., OH. He was buried in at Their Farm near Butler, OH.

Information for Jacob Garber II and wife Mary Magdalene Eller I.D. #291, d/o Henry Eller & Elizabeth Bigler Eller, plus family was received Aug. 1991 from Gale E. S. Honeyman, 470 Grove #2 San Francisco, CA 94102.
His reference: THE GARBER HISTORICAL RECORD, Vol 1, No. 1, 1937 by Clark M. Garber, Family data is incomplete; however, Jacob Garber s/o Jacob Gerber, Sr., Note spelling of name - Gerber/Garber,
JACOB GARBER, II WAS GERMAN BAPTIST BRETHREN MINISTER.
Clark Garber speculated that this family moved to Washington Co., PA in 1794 where Jacob was elected to the Ministry of the German Baptist Brethren Church. He farmed and was a cobble. He also states that the family moved in 1834 to a farm in Jefferson Twp., Richland Co., OH. 7- 1/2 miles southwest of Butler, where a cemetery was established on their farm.
Jacob Garber II - Will dated 6 July 1849, He died 19 Jan 1852, Richland Co., OH.
Note: Order of Children not established.
Also, an item of interest per Mr Honeyman:- The German Baptist Brethern officially changed their name in 1908 to CHURCH OF THE BRETHREN.
Mr. Honeyman has stated that he is a member of the Church Of The Brethren.

13. Peter ELLER (R:294, ID:) was born about 1780 in MD. He died on January 8, 1843 in W. Bethlehem Twp., Washington Co., PA. He was buried in Old Dunkard Ch.Cem., nr Marianna, Washington Co., PA.

Peter Eller died without a will, but have copy of Estate Settlement, West Bethlehem Twp., Washington Co., PA.

Addording to Crumrine's History of Washington Co., PA - 1882, as follows:
Peter Eller came to West Bethlehem Township soom after 1800, and purchased 75 acres of land which he soom after sold, and bought one hundred and sixty acres of Christian Ufford, on the south fork fo Daniels' Run, above Christopher Cox's, and below Thomas Rees and Caspar Rickett, and also adjoining the lands of John Crumrine and Jacob Shedder, Henry Eller, Son of the settler, Peter Eller, lives on the tract his father purchased from Ufford.

When Peter Eller's father Henry Eller died in Maryland in 1788, Peter was not yet of age; so did not get his share of inheritance untill 25 April 1800, as per deed Book M 12, pages 462,463, Washington Co., MD.

Peter Eller died in West Bethlehem Twp., Washington Co., PA on 8 Jan. 1843 age 63. Since he left no will, there was an Agreement of Division of Property in same Twp. and County dated May 1843, Partitions 1781- 1850, West Bethlehem Twp, Vol. or File E. p. 351 as follows:-
Memorandum of an agreement assigned the widow and heirs of Peter Eller late of West Bethlehem Township, Washington County, deceased:- Whereas it was the desigh of the said intestate that certain articles of his property hereinafter mentioned should be ?? and enjoyed by certain of his children, but inasmuch as he died withour leaving a will, his intention in their behalf cannot be legally carried into effect, and whereas we the widow and children of the said Peter Eller are desirous to carry out the intentions of the said intestate in reference to the said property, we do therefore herby agree that Henry Eller shall have a Brown Horse appraised at $52.50 - that Catherine Eller shall have the Bell Cow appraised at $11.00 - that Elizabeth Eller shall have the Red Cow valued at $9.00 and - that Mary Eller shall have the Black Cow valued at $16.00 - and we hereby direct the administrators of said Peter Eller to deliver the said articles to the said articles to the parties above mentioned respectively and acquit and discharge them from accountability to us in the settlement of said estate for this appraised value of the same, by witness our hands this           day of May 1843.

Note: I assume that Daniel Eller, Administrator was the oldest son of Peter Eller, This document does not show how he was compensated.

Further research in Washington Co., PA, as of June 1991, Clarice Stanley found another record of Peter's Estate settlement in Orphan's Court Dockets, Account Settlement, File No. 37, Feb. 1846 Term. The Article was a little more detailed and showed an allowance for the services of Daniel Eller, There was a complete listing of accounts paid, Of interest, Jonathan Garber was paid $7.00 for a Coffin for Peter Eller.

Additional information found June 1991 - An Estate Settlement, for CATHERINE SHIDLER, file "S" No. 31, 1841 Term, Inventory and appraisment date was Dec. 14th, 1839. I photocopied a few pages. (Papers were in a bundle in a small File Box in the Court House Archives, Washington Co., PA.) There were shares paid to what seemed to be children & their spouces. Included was a receipt signed by: Peter Eller, Mary Eller and Daniel Eller, Also listed was an amount of $250.00 paid to Peter Eller for "keeping Widow". HENRY ELLER s/o PETER ELLER who settled in West Bethlehem Township of Washington Co., PA soon after 1800, and resided on his father's farm after Peter's death.

I have not found a marriage record for Henry Eller; however, he could have been married and wife died soon after. Estate Settlement for Henry Eller, Washington Co., PA, File No. 15, Book Z, Administration Accounts 15 Feb. 1888. There was no mention of a wife, in brief, shares to following:
Daniel H. Moore, Elizabeth Eller, Catherine Eller, D. Eller, Catherine A, Moore, and Sarah L. Shrontz.
I assume Daniel H. Moore and Catherine A. Moore were his Nephiew and Niece; and children of Henry Eller's sister Mary who married Jacob Moore. Mary was already deceased - as of 24 Feb. 1871.

Joseph Eller and wife Barbara were childless. His estate was distributed to his heirs, 17 Aug. 1871 by Miami County Court, naming 5 sisters and numerous nieces and nephews.

Jacob Eller, Jr. was born in Maryland, in either Frederick Co., or Washington Co., Maryland. Jacob Eller, Jr. bought a piece of a tract of land from Jacob Eller, Sr. recorded 11 Aug. 1821, Land Record J.S. 14/57 Frederick Co., MD. On April 15, 1837 Jacob, Jr. sold 6 acres of land to Caleb Ogelton, Liber H.S. 4/468. On 1 Sept. 1837 Jacob, Jr. bought 80 acres of land in Callaway Co., Mo, Deed Book E, pages 343 & 344. He and his family appeared on the 1840 and 1850 Callawlay Co., MO Census Records.

Jacob Eller, Jr.'s Will dated 12 June 1867 was probated 4 Jan. 1868 in Callaway Co., MO, Book E, pages 757 & 758. Son Daniel Willard Eller was not living when he made his will, as he was not mentioned. Daughters Ann Maria, Martha Ann, and Elizabeth were not married as of that date in 1867. Also could not find marriages for any of his children except son Warren Eller.

I obtained a copy of this Will when my husband John Stanley and I did research in Fulton, Callaway Co., Missouri in August of 1987, Copy of this Will is in my files. His brother Elias Eller signed as a witness to the Will.

Elias Eller was born in Frederick or Washington Co., MD. Elias came to Ohio Co., VA/WV in 1830, There he married Mary Standiford d/o Skelton Standiford and Mary on 4 March 1830, Ohio Co. Record book 2/17, He must have brought his younger brother Peter Eller, who was my great grandfather with him, as he married a younger sister of Mary Standdford, Jane Standiford, There is no record; however, of their marriage in Ohio Co.; and it must be noted not all marriages were recorded, especially if married by a Justice of the Peace.

Elisa & Mary bought a lot in Triadelphia, WV, near Wheeling, VA/WV 1 June 1833, Ohio Co. Deed Bk. 18/349. Elias & Mary sold this lot 21 Aug. 1838, Ohio Co. Deed Bk. 23/42 & 43. On the 23rd. day of May 1838, Elias Eller of Ohio Co., VA bought 180 acres of land in Audrain Co., NO Deed Bk. Vol A, pages 121 & 122, Audrian Co. Missouri borders Callaway Co., MO on the North, It seems that Elias Eller settled just a little above the county line and his brother Jacob Eller, Jr. south of this line in Calloway Co..

Per Calloway Co., MO History, p. 860,861 - In March 1878 William Eller Calloway county and secured 400 acres, He fought under General Price in Civil War and was in battle of Lexington, Pea Ridge, and Big Black, near Vicksburg; was captured there and confined 22 month on Johnson's Island. He was 2nd, Lt., Co. K, 1st Mo. Cav. (Confederate Soldiers from Missouri)
William was the oldest child of Elias & Mary; and he was the Administrator of his father's Estate Settlement in Audrain Co., MO. I have a copy in my files. Could find no record of his marriage. His own Estate Settlement was listed in Calloway Co., MO records - Box 256/Bundle 7. I did not obtain a copy of this. He died 21 Nov. 1915.

37. Peter ELLER (R:270, ID:) was born about 1811 in Frederick Co., MD. He died after 1880 in Lynn Camp Area Marshal Co., WV-Meade Dist.. He was buried in Mt. Joy Ch. Cem., Silverhill, Marshall Co., WV- Liberty Dist..

There is no marker in the Mt. Joy Church Cemetery either for Peter or his wife Jane Standiford Eller. Her death date was recorded in Marshall Co., See her record for this. Peter's was not recorded and he was living at the time of the 1880 Marshall Co. Census, Records for most of the 1890 Census were destroyed by fire on January 21, 1921 in the Commerce Bldg, in Washington, D.C.; and therefore cannot check to see whether he was living at that time. He was not living at the time of his wife's death in 1900. I have been told by family members that he and wife are both buried at Mt. Joy without grave markers.

Have been unable to find their marriage record. In 1840 Census, first I could find him, he had two daughters, so one must have died. First child, Mary M. was born 10 Sept, 1839 that we find any record of. Peter never owned land, but he is found in Marshall Co. Court Records as early as 1839 along with father in law Skelton Standiford regarding non payment of loans. Copies of same in Eller records. His brother Elias Eller came to Ohio Co., VA. And married in March of 1830 to Mary Standiford sister to Jane. Elias & family moved to Missouri in 1838 having followed an older brother Jacob Eller, Jr. who moved from Frederick Co., MD in 1837, Peter Eller served on the Board of Education in Meade Dist. Of Marshall Co., Lynn Camp Area, in 1869. Occupations listed on Census were: Laborer, Farmer, Miller & Grocer in that order.

My maternal grandmother told my mother Florence Blake Eller that she remembers an old man by the name of Peter Eller that went through the countryside on Bowman Ridge, Marshall Co. with a horse and wagon selling household items. My grandmother Trese Taylor Blake Pegg was born in 1872, and she remembered in particular about him selling silverware (probably imitation), This could have been about 1880, and that year he listed his occupation in the Census as a Grocer; so maybe he sold produce also.

The records of the Circuit Court of Marshall Co. listed his name as Reuben Peter Eller, None of my family knew that his name was other than just Peter. Records on him are obscure; and by the time I began research after my father Berrell's death, there seems to be on one living that knows anything about him. The only reference to him has been by my grandmother above, and this was something she remembers about him when she was a small child.

It was not until 1987 that I found records in Audrain Co. and Calloway Counties of Elias and Jacob, Jr.; and it was 1988 that I found out for sure that Jacob, Jr. was their brother. By publishing my family history in the Eller Family Association and partly in form of a query; had a reply from one of the members sending me information that proved that they were indeed brothers; had come to Ohio Co., later Marshall Co., WV and married Standiford sisters, My father Berrell only knew that Elias went We st. West turned out to be Audrain Co., Missouri, and I found this out by Census records; then going there and researching Court House records. I found Jacob Eller, Jr. records in the adjoining county to the south, Callaway Co., MO. Elias' and Jacob Jr.'s farms were near each other; however county line separated them.

My brother Ralph tells me that he remembers dad (Berrell Eller) telling him that he was told that Peter Eller, which would be his great grandfather, was a self proclaimed preacher, and one of his sermons was called "Down in the Gilgow". Gilgow is referenced in Joshua of the Old Testament, and is about 10 miles from Jordan. Wonder why a jubject such as this??? Per Clarice Vivian Eller Stanley - 11/20/88. He was married to Jayne STANDIFORD (R:271, ID:) (daughter of Skelton STANDIFORD (R:1080, ID:) and Mary UNKNOWN (R:1081, ID:)) about 1837. Jayne STANDIFORD (R:271, ID:) was born on May 2, 1814 in Ohio Co., Virginia/WV. She died on November 17, 1900 in Lynn Camp, Marshall Co., WV, Meade Dist.. She was buried in Mt. Joy Ch. Cem., Marshall Co., WV-Liberty Dist..

Jane Standiford Eller's death recorded in Marshall Co., WV Book O, p. 110, Nov 17, 1900 age 86/6/15, a widow, died at Lynn Camp and buried Mt. Joy Church Cemetery. Died of Erysipelas. This is an acute febrile disease with localized inflammation and swelling of skin and subcutococcus infection; which causes fever, chills, nausea, vomiting; painful and warm skin; face and head lesions that are hot and red, etc. Description taken from "Taber's Cyclopedic Medical Dictionary.
Note this was in 1900, before the discovery of Penicillin, etc.

She lived with her youngest daughter, Catherine L.V. Eller Young and husband Reason Young at Lynn Camp, Marshall Co. in her latter days.

38. Peter ELLER (R:1830, ID:) was born about 1801 in Maryland. He died on February 20, 1885 in Fayette Co., IA. He was buried in Lima Cem., Lt 52, Westfield Twp., Fayette Co., IA.

Information on the families of Peter and Margaret J. Little Eller were supplied by Thelma Hepper, RR 1, Box 34, Lebanon, S.D. 57455. See Eller Chronicles Feb. 1991 Publication, jpages 34 through 40. There were probably older children for this marriage, as Peter Eller is found in the 1830 Census in Fayette Co., PA, Redstone Twp, page #248 of Microfilm;

Therefore, there were children born in Pennsylvania, before they moved to Ripley Co., Indiana, where Peter and wife Margaret and five children were living in 1850 along with his parents Daniel and Hannah Eller his parents.
Father Daniel Eller was 81 b. VA and his mother Hannah age 70 b. New Jersey. Peter was 50, a farmer b. in VA Wife Margaret 40 b. PA
ch.: Mary J. 17 PA, and Joshua 14, Simon H. 8, Daniel 6, and Hannah A. 4 all born in Indiana.
If Mary Jane was born abt 1833 in PA, and Joshua Eller born abt 1836, this would determine that they moved from Fayette Co. PA to INDIANA sometime between the years of 1833 and 1836.

Thelma Hepper also found an 1856 Iowa State Census, Fayette Co., Illyria Twp. for this family as follows:

Abram S. Eller born 1835 and died 1883 about age 48. There was no record of his death in Death Records of Audrain Co., so do not know what he died of. I did, however, obtain copies of his Estate Settlement in Mexico, County Seat of Audrain Co., MO. These are in my files. Through Census Records and Court House Records, I found that he had seven children.

The Census Records of 1880, Audrain Co., MO, listed him as a Farmer, and living at South Salt River. Estate Settlement was from Book F, page 205, Audrain Co., Missouri. Research done in Mexico, Audrain Co., MO in Aug. of 1987.

Absolam only lived to be age 27. Aunt Nevba Eller Ritz, said someone told her mother there was a rumor that he might have been poisoned by drinking water; but did not know any facts - there was no cause of death listed at Court House at New Martinsville, Wetzel Co. I guess this is just a "Grandmother's tale" and we will never know whether it was deliberate by some unknown factor, or accidental - maybe neither. My dad, Berrell Eller never knew cause of death; or at least he never mentioned it to me. Per Clarice V. Eller Stanley.

Absolam and wife Catherine 'Cassie" Yoho Eller only had two children; a daughter named Rchel F. Eller who died 8 Aug. 1889 at age 22 of Typhoid Fever, and Charles A. Eller who was my grandfather, He was only 3 Mos. old when his father died.

Cassie Yoho Eller married a second time to Robert Randolph Goddard 3 April 1872 in Wetzel Co. on 3 April 1872; ge was 21m sge 24, They had 8 daughters as follows:- Mary Elizabeth, Louella Ann, Rosa Belle, Violet, Bessie E., Georgia Pearl, Myrtle Evaline & Lelah May Goddard. As you see, my grandfather was the only son Cassie had

Richard P. Yoho married #1 Ann Rebecca Eller in 1868 Marshall Co., WV; they had two sons Reuben W. Yoho and James Evert Yoho. Ann Rebecca died at age 28/8/22 in 1877, and is buried at Fredonia Cem., Rines Ridge, Marshall Co., WV.

He married #2 - Sarah Alma Wade, b. Belmont Co., OH 12 July 1878, Wetzel Co. Bk. 1/333. Richard was age 30 and Sarah Alma age 22. They are in the 1880 Wetzel Co. Census, Proctor Dist. Sons Reuben W. and James E. living with them, plus his and Sarah's child Harry born in March 1880. Have never found any further record of this child, nor what happened to Sarah Alma, because Richard married again in four years time.

He then married #3 Martha Ann Hensel, 21 Aug. 1884 in Tyler Co., WV Bk. 2/56. He was 36 and she 38.

Peter who married Sarah was the s/o Peter Yoho & Margaret Baker Yoho of Fish Creek, Marshal Co., WV. Richard P. Yoho's mother was Margaret Yoho, d/o William Yoho & Rebecca DeHart Yoho of Marshall Co., WV.
William Yoho was a brother to Peter who married Sarah, and also s/o Peter Yoho and Margaret Baker; therefore, Richard P.'s parents were cousins. Richard's father Peter Yoho died young, about age 30, 1 Oct, 1851 in Monroe Co., Ohio, per Catherine Fedorchak Records, Vol, IV, page 37.

After the death of Richard P.'s father Peter Yoho, his mother Margaret brought him and his younger sister Rebecca A. born 1851 back to Marshall Co., where Margaret married a second time to James Rine (W) on 14 Oct. 1855. Further information on this Rine family can be found on page 64 of the Rine Family History. Rebecca. Yoho also married a Rine - Philip G. Rine, s/o William Rine & Lucinda.

This seems to be the area of Rines Ridge, On William & Josephine's marriage record he was 24 and she 18; and his residence was Howard, WV. Married at F. H, Fair's residence, and by F. H. Fair.

William's death record Marsh Co. Bk. 2/161 date of 6 Oct. 1905, states he died at Roberts Ridge of Heart Failure. Could not find where he was buried. His wife was named "Molly", Must have used this name instead of Josephine. Josephine his wife was buried at Mt. Joy with her parents James M. Yoho and Mary M. Eller Yoho.
Stone reads McCain, Josephine w/o William H. - Dates illegible. No death record in Court House, or record of any children.

His brother george a. McCain died 30 March 1953 Marsh. Co. Bk. 4/171, at Reynolds Memorial Hosp. of Cerebal Hemmorage, age 74/11/3, parents Joseph McCain & Ellen Marrow.

Barrell Eller's first name given to him by his parents was Garkey, He did not like this name, and never used it. It is not on any legal documents. He was born in Marshall Co., WV on Brushy Ridge along the border between Marshall & Wetzel Counties. His parents Charles A. and Elizabeth Yoho Eller lived for a time with his maternal grandparents, Andrew Jackson and Mary Jane Yoho, before building their own home in the area at top of Proctor Ridge in Wetzel Co., WV.

I dedicate this family history to my father Berrell, as he had worked long and hard on the research of his Ellers. He traced them to Maryland and I took up where he left off. He was so close to finding Henry & Elizabeth Bigler Eller as our ancestors, but did not realize it before his death in 1971. He kept repeating the story that two brothers came over the "mountains" - Elias and Peter Eller, However one went "West" he said and did not know what state.

I wish he could have known that I found Elias Eller in Missouri His great grandfather was Peter Eller that settled in Marshall Co. in the Lynn Camp Area.

Berrell and Florence Blake Eller lived on Taylors Ridge, Marshall Co., WV and that is where we children grew up - Clarice, Charles & Ralph. He was a former, a carpenter, and an employee of the WV Dept: of Highways. He began as an operator of a road grader, used in the days where roads were covered with gravel or a cinder like gravel called "red dog". Later he became a forman and retired from that position after about thirty years of service. He was a 32nd degree Mason and belonged to the Masonic Lodge in Moundsville, WV, and was a member of the First Christian Church there. Berrell and Florence moved from the farm to Moundsville in 1956.

He was nicknamed "Baldy", and he was wonderful to the children Linda Mae and Ralph Donald, helping to rise and educate them.

Bernadene worked all her life, either sewing of working outside the home. She retired as Deputy Cler at the Marshall Co., WV Court House as of Jan. 1988. Previous to Court House employment, she worked in the office of the West Virginia State Prison on Jefferson Ave., Moundsville, WV.

Bernedene has been a very good and dear friend of mine since grade school days.

Clarice graduated from Moundsville, WV High School in 1941, Getting to High School meant bussing from Taylors Ridge to Moundsville. I was one of the first students on the bus in the morning at about 7:00 A. M. and the last to get off at night. The route started at our home and traveled our ridge to Bowman Ridge, back to Roberts Ridge and on to Moundsville taking almost two hours. I belonged to the 4-H Club, and won a White Ribbon one year for sewing.

After graduation, I attended the Elliott School of Business in Wheeling, WV, and held several secretarial jobs throughout the years. My retirement was Dec. 31, 1983 from the office of Teamsters Local Union No. 697 in wheeling, WV, after having worked there for thirteen years.

John H. Stanley graduated from Wheeling, WV Central Catholic High School in 1938, and served 1942-1946 in the U. S. Navy in the Pacific Area during WWII. He was employed as a mill clerk by wheleling- Pittsburgh Steel and retired from the Yorkville, OH Plant Sept 30 , 1983.
It may be of interest to note that John statred working for Wheeling Steel Corp. at their Wheeling Corrugating Plant in East Wheeling, before the War and after his return, until this plant discontinued operations; and further, this was the former location of the Hhitaker Iron Co. where his father and grandfather before him had worked!

Charles V. Eller graduated from Moundsville, WV High School, receiving his diploma after induction into the Army of the U.S. in 1944. He served in the Phillipines and spent a year with the Occupational Forces in Japan after termination of WWII. Among the things he brought back with him was some white Japanese silk. His bride Barbara Thacker made her Wedding Dress from some of this material.

Upon his return from the Service he attended West Virginia University. After that he worked in the glass, chemical and home building industries. He later completed a correspondence cource in Surveyeing and for many years was in business with his broother Ralph as Eller and Eller Land Surveyors, as well as being the Marshall Co. Surveyor of Lands. He also continues in his own private practice.

His home and office is located a few miles below Moundsville, WV along the Ohio River, at what is known as Washington Lands

192. Ralph Norman ELLER (R:83, ID:) was born on November 30, 1929 in Taylors Ridge, Marshall Co., WV. He died on June 29, 1991 in at home, Roberts Ridge, Marshall Co., WV. He was buried on July 1, 1991 in Greenview Cem., Roberts Ridge, Marshall Co., WV.

Ralph N. Eller graduated from Moundsville High School in 1948. He worked in the glass, chemical and home building industries, and later a Surveyor of Lands in private practice. He has been active in the Ebenezer United Methodist Churdh, Roberts Ridge, Marshall Co., WV, and a Board Member of the Marshall Co. Activities and Development Authority. He also resides on Roberts Ridge, and due to a disability is now retired. Ralph and his brother Charles for many years were principals of Eller and Eller Land Surveyors.

July 6, 1991 - Note: Ralph had been diagnosed as having Progressive Supranuclear Palsy, He had become progressively worse during the approximate four or five years since the thim symptoms first notices. However, his death was sudden and unexpected. He pssed away in his sleep in the early hours of June 29, 1991.
