The Adirondack Genealogical Historical Society
is a volunteer organization dedicated to:

* Promote, encourage, and foster the study of genealogy and family history. 

* Collect, and preserve genealogical and historical records and information related to the Saranac Lake and surrounding region.


* Any person interested in genealogy may become a member upon payment of dues.

* Family: $7.00

* Single: $5.00

* Student: $1.00

Research Policy:

* We are pleased to offer a research service that includes a search of our local resources.

* Membership is not a requirement.

* We will charge for photocopies at 20 cents per page.

* Please submit a business sized, self-addressed, stamped envelope (SASE) for a response,

or you may include your email address for a more rapid reply.


Some of the research materials in the Saranac Lake Free library include:


* Census records: Microfilm Federal and State 1840 1930 for

Clinton, Essex, Franklin and St. Lawrence Counties

* Local telephone directories:

1902, 1906, 1908, 1910, 1911, 1921-22, 1930 onward

* Tuberculosis patients:

Database from disinfection records of cure cottages

Trudeau Sanatorium patients

Card files

* Obituaries: database extracted for the Adirondack Daily Enterprise

* Church records

* Cemetery information updated to 2000

* Large collection of books, maps, photos in the Adirondack Room
