"Roberte Lanfire late of Heddington in the Countie of Wiltshire deceassed lieinge on his on his death Bedd, and in perfecte mynde and memorye did make and declare in wordes his last will and Testament nuncupative, in manner and forme followinge. First he comitted his soule to Almightie god his Creator and Redemer, and his bodie to Christian buriall. Item he gave and bequeathed unto his brother Richarde Lanfire all the goods which his father gave and bequeathed unto him at his departure oute of this life. That is to say one yoke of Oxen, twoe mares, one wayne, one Ploughe or sullowe, one paire of eithes or harrowes, twoe yokes, twoe Struges, (?) one maltestour, one querne to grinde malte withall, one flockbedd, with a standinge bedstead, one reeke stathell or stanell, one Cupborde. Also he gave and bequeathed unto his sister Jane one sheepe, and unto her Daughter Thomasine one sheepe, and to her Daughter Agnes twoe sheepe. Item he gave and bequeathed unto Margarett Shepherde his sisters daughter one sheepe. Also he willed that his twoe acres of Barley lieinge in Hedington feilde sholde be equallie by even porcons parted betwene foure of his sisters. This is to saye Cicelie Shepperde, Johan Lanfire, Isabell Lanfire, and Alice Lanfire. And all the reste of his goods not as aforesaide bequeathed, he gave unto the said Richarde Lanfire his brother." I Richard Lanfere of Heddington in the Countie of Wilts yeoman being sicke in body but of perfect understanding and memory (I prayse god for it) on the five and twnetieth Day of Aprill in the seconde yeare of the Reigne of our Sovereigne Lorde King Charles and of our Lord April 1626 doe make this my last will and testament revokinge all other whatsoever in manner and forme followinge. First of all I comende my body and soule unto the hands of allmighty God my maker trusting that he wiil be mercyfull unto me for and by the meritts of Christ Jesus my alone and allsufficient saviour and redeemer and that my soule after her departure from the body immediately shall goe into heavenly joye and my body buried in Christian buriall shall rise agayne at the appearance of our Lord Jesus when both being of 1 againe …… they shall enter together into everlasting blisse. My worldly goods I doe dispose as followeth. In primis I doe give and bequeathe unto my poore neighbours five shillings in money to be distributed at the discretion of my overseers ... ... ... ... ... and the overseers ffor the poore I doe give and bequeath unto my sonne Richard tenn pounds in money to be payd unto hym within one yeare after my decease and my Dame (?) mare IB I doe give unto my daughters Katherine and Joan tenn poundes apiece in money to be payd unto them within two years after my decease. IB I doe bequeath unto my daughters Hester and Elizabeth ten pounds in money apiece to be payd unto them within three years after my decease. IB I doe give unto my daughters Martha and Mary to be payd unto them within foure years after my decease tenn pounds in money apiece. IB I doe give and bequeath unto my daughters Dorathie Paynter and Alice Carver tenn shillings in money apiece. IB I doe bequeath unto my kinsman William Painter fourtie shillings in money to be payd unto hym within five years after my decease, all ye residue of my goods as well moveable as immoveabler within doores and without I doe give and bequeath unto my sonne William whom I constitute and make my sole & whole executor to pay my debts and legacies and to dis... my funerall Lastly I doe constitute and appoynte my friends and neighbours John Rogers and Robt Child to be the overseers of this my last will and testament, intrusting them to have care that it be accordingly in witness whereof I doe hereunto put my hand in seale the day and yeare above written."

And as for touching and concerning all such temporall estate as it hath pleased Almighty God to bestow upon me I give and dispose thereof as followeth. But my will and desire is that my executors herein after named shall put out the same at interest and pay her the interest thereof during her life and that immediately after her decease that my executors shall pay the principall thereof to and amongst all the children of my said sister Mary Hell that shall be then liveing share and share alike. Item I give and bequeath unto my sister Dorothy Pile the sume of twenty pounds to be paid in two yeares next after my decease. Item I give and bequeath unto my brother Thomas Lanfires children the sume of twenty pounds to be equally divided amongst them all within twelve months next after my decease. Item I give and bequeath unto my brother John Lanfires children the like summe of twenty pounds to be equally divided amongst them all within twelve months next after my decease. Whereas I am now possessed of one freehold ground lyeing in the Tything of Stockly containing two acres called Kingdom Mead and two lease hold grounds lyeing in Stockly aforesaid called Kingdom Mead one and the other called Buttons acre which was given unto me by the last will and testament of my mother Joane Lanfire, I doe hereby give devise and bequeath the said freehold ground called Kingdom Meade unto my two brothers Thomas Lanfire and John Lanfire equally to hold them and their joynt heirs or assigns forever. I also give and bequeath the said two leasehold grounds aforesaid unto my said two brothers Thomas Lanfire and John Lanfire to hold them their excts and abmts and assigns during the remainder of the severall termes I have therein subject nevertheless to the payment of the severall legacies mentioned and expressed in the last will and testament of my late mother Joane Lanfire. And I doe hereby order and direct that my executors herein after mentioned shall pay off and discharge such legacies as are therein given which I am thereby obliged to pay and discharge. All the rest and residue of my personall estate goods money and securities not herein before by me given and bequeathed I doe hereby give and bequeath unto my said two brothers Thomas Lanfire and John Lanfire share and share alike.
