Ascension Photos 1898

Historic Ascension Photos 1898

The three photographs shown hereunder were sent to me by Brian Jenner of New Zealand and were obtained by his Grandfather, William Jenner who appears in two of the photographs. William Jenner was an E.R.A. (later Chief) in the Royal Navy, it is believed he was involved in cable-laying activities to South Africa. He met his wife, Ada Flight on Ascension (she was the daughter of a Royal Navy C.E.R.A, Tom Flight)

For further reading about Ascension's past, a library of books are available online, I would especially recommend your reading Mrs Gill's 'Six Months in Ascension' written in 1878.
