Bud was a retired South Bend police officer after 23 years of service, and was a
member of the Fraternal Order of Police (F.O.P.).
As a young man he served four years in the U.S. Air Force.
After retirement from the South Bend Police Department, he took up the security
supervisor position at Indiana University at South Bend. During his spare time
he became a published poet and author of books.
Throughout his life and, up until the end, he was a well-known accomplished
musician in the community, as demonstrated through band involvement and the
amazing manner in which he could play the sax. He even managed to obtain a bit
part in the movie ''Midnight Run.''
Bud never stayed in one place long enough to allow grass to grow beneath his
feet. He lived his life to its fullest potential and he continues to do so in
all of us.
