Because most of this generation are still living I have chosen to limit their details to that which follows.

Gladys Ann AHERN married Fred Jackson & spent most of her life in Yallourn. They had 5 children, two boys & three girls.

John Henry AHERN married Ruby Joyce ELLIOT & after spending time in Numurkah & Queanbean he settled in Earlwood, Sydney where he owned a successful manchester & haberdashery business in the main street of Campsie. John & Joy had 2 boys & 1 girl.

George Raymond AHERN married Kate Evelyn LADNER .....my mother & father.
After the family left Mooroopna they settled in Numurkah where he completed his schooling & joined the Post Master General's Department. Following a transfer to the mail room in Spencer St. Melbourne he was again relocated, this time to Ballarat where he spent the rest of his life. In the early 1950's he left the Post Office & joined a Ballarat construction company, originally as a clerk & later paymaster. An enthusiastic gardener & follower of local football he spent time with two clubs in honorary administration positions. He was also a member of the Ballarat Nth. Bowling Club serving many years on the committee, as bar manager & also as a selector. There were 2 children, my sister & myself.

Thomas Naughton AHERN was named after his great grandfather. He married Joyce REEVES & for some time lived in the Melbourne suburb of Preston. After spending the war years in the RAAF he returned to his job as a sales clerk, then late in the 1940's his brother John offered him a position in his business in Campsie. The family consisting of 2 boys & 2 girls took up residence in Canterbury.
