Because most of this generation are still living I have chosen to limit their details to that which follows. Gladys Ann AHERN married Fred Jackson & spent most of her life in Yallourn. They had 5 children, two boys & three girls. John Henry AHERN married Ruby Joyce ELLIOT & after spending time in Numurkah & Queanbean he settled in Earlwood, Sydney where he owned a successful manchester & haberdashery business in the main street of Campsie. John & Joy had 2 boys & 1 girl. George Raymond AHERN married
Kate Evelyn LADNER
.....my mother & father. Thomas Naughton AHERN was named after his great grandfather. He married Joyce REEVES & for some time lived in the Melbourne suburb of Preston. After spending the war years in the RAAF he returned to his job as a sales clerk, then late in the 1940's his brother John offered him a position in his business in Campsie. The family consisting of 2 boys & 2 girls took up residence in Canterbury. The Monumental Inscription on the AHERN grave site in Rushworth Cemetery reads:
In Loving Memory From time to time this site will be expanded & updated when information comes to hand. At the moment it is in a somewhat abbreviated form owing to the fact that this is my first attempt at building & managing a website. If anyone thinks we may gave a common interest I would be most interested to hear from you & for those with comments, suggestions & the like, please feel free to contact me as well. John Ahern. |
