The data included in these pages is provided by the Adam Hawkes
Family Association a non-profit family association dedicated to furthering the
spirit of family and providing family and genealogical information. The
information provided in these pages represent the research of many individuals,
over 3500 names are included spanning dates from the late 16th century to the
late 20th century. Most important among these is Ethel Farrington Smith, whose
book Adam Hawkes of Saugus Mass., is the recognized authority on the
first six generations of descendants of Adam Hawkes.
Matthew Hawke and John Hawks are sometimes reported to be brothers of Adam
HAWKES. No proof has be discovered to this date to support that claim. Though
for the sake of research the descendants of both John Hawks and Matthew Hawke
are included in these pages.
Those interested in researching in more detail information about the descendants
of John Hawke of Hadley Mass. should refer to the book John Hawks, A Founder
of Hadley, Massachusetts. published by Gateway Press written by Imogene Hawks
Lane.
These books are especially helpful to those trying to trace their
Hawkes/Hawks/Hawke ancestry. Although the books are now out of print they are
