MRS. Daniel Shell Called Home - Widow of One of the Pioneer Citizens of Nobles County Enters Eternal Rest 

Prominent in Church and Eastern Star Circles in Worthington for Many Years :

Mrs. Samantha Shell, widow of the late Daniel Shell, died at 1:15 a. m., Wednesday, January 1l., at her home in this city. Mrs. Shell had been in delicate health for some time, due to the weight of advancing years accentuated by the effects of a bad fall she had a few years ago when she broke her hip. Had she lived until March 28th Mrs. Shell would have reached the age of 79.

Funeral services are to be held at 2:30 p. m.-today from the, Shell home at1223 Fifth Avenue. Rev. W. E. Mahle, pastor of the Methodist Episcopal church, will officiate. Interment will be in Worthington cemetery. ;

The, pall bearers will be Wm. Schrader, E.J. Jones, M. P. Mann, G.W; Roth, L.R, Gholz, S.S. Smith.

Samantha E: McClintock was born March 28th, 1849, at Monticello, Wis. She was married October 29, 1867, to Daniel Shell, at the home of her father, Hugh McClintock, in Salem, Wis. Mr. and Mrs. Shell came to Worthington in 1872 and this city was their home during the remainder of their lives. Mrs. Shell endured the privations of the pioneer in a prairie town in those early days. Mrs. Shell was a Congregationalist in religion and during the life. of the church of  that denomination in this city, was one of its most faithful members. She was a member of Ransford Chapter, Order Eastern Star, and in this and other social activities she was prominent until advancing years came upon her. She was noted for her fine character-and had a wide circle of friends. Mrs. Shell died October 20, 1922.

Four children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Shell, three of whom survive namely, Winfred (Mrs. Walter Clement), Lee M Shell., Marjorie (Mrs. E. J. Ahlf). Len McClintock of St. James, a nephew, attended the funeral.
