In the Name of God Amen I John Alefounder of Colchester in the County of Essex Carpenter being sick in Body but of sound and disposing Mind and Memory do make this my last Will and Testament in manner and form following First I bequeath my Soul into the Hands of almighty God trusting through the Merits of Jesus Christ for free pardon of all my sins and my Body I commit to the Earth to be decently buried at the discretion of my Executors hereinafter named and as touching such Worldly Estate as it hath pleased God to bestow upon me I dispose thereof as followeth that is to say I will and order that all my Estate whatsoever and wheresoever within the Kingdom of England both Real and personal (except such personal Estate and Effects as I shall particularly give and bequeath in and by this my last will) shall be sold by my Executors hereinafter named as soon as conveniently may be after my decease and with the Monies arising therefrom pay off and discharge all my just debts and Funeral Charges and the several Legacies hereinafter given and bequeathed vizt I give and bequeath unto my Son Upcher Alefounder the Sum of twenty five pounds Also I give and bequeath unto my Daughter Mary Dawson Wife of Kennellem Dawson the Sum of three hundred pounds Also I give and bequeath unto my Son James Alefounder one hundred and fifty pounds Also I give and bequeath unto my Son John Alefounder twenty five pounds Also I give and bequeath unto my Son Robert Alefounder one hundred pounds all which several Legacies hereinbefore given and bequeathed I will shall be paid by my Executors within twelve Months next after my decease Also I give and bequeath unto my two Daughters Sarah Alefounder and Lucy Alefounder the Sum of five hundred pounds apeice to be paid to them at their respective Ages of twenty one years Also I further give devise and bequeath unto my Said two Daughters Sarah Alefounder and Lucy Alefounder all my Household Goods plate Linnen and Furniture in my now Dwelling House to be equally divided between them share and share alike but my Mind and Will further is that in case either of my said Daughters Sarah Alefounder and Lucy Alefounder shall depart this Life before they arrive at their respective Ages of twenty one years and without Issue of their respective Bodies lawfully begotten then I give and bequeath the Legacy and Share of her or them so dying under age and without Issue as aforesaid to be equally divided amongst all and every of my said Sons and Daughters Share and Share alike And Also my Mind and Will further is that if any overplus of Money shall remain in my Executors Hands after payment of my Debts and Legacys I will the same shall be equally divided between my said two Daughters Sarah Alefounder and Lucy Alefounder Share and Share alike and Lastly I do hereby nominate constitute and appoint my said Son Robert Alefounder and Isaac Green of Lexden in Colchester aforesaid Carpenter Executors of this my last Will and Teatament and do give unto them the said Robert Alefounder and Isaac Green the sum of twenty pounds a peice for their Care and Trouble in seeing this my Will duly performed and hereby revoking all former Wills by me heretofore made I do declare this to be my last Will and Testament In Witness wherof I have to this my Will contained in two Sheets of paper set my Hand and Seal to each Sheet and also my Seal to the Labell by which they are affixed together this thirteenth day of June in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and sixty three Jno Alefounder - [LS] Signed Sealed published and declared by the Testator abovenamed as and for his last Will and Testament in our presence who likewise set our Hands as Witnesses therto in the like presence of the said Testator Robt Upcher Susanna Pike Jas Wayman

This Will was proved at London on the twenty first day of July in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and sixty three before the Right Worshipfull Sir Edward Simpson Knight Doctor of Laws Master Keeper or Commissary of the prerogative Court of Canterbury lawfully constituted by the oaths of Robert Alefounder the Son of the said Deceased and Isaac Green the Executors named in the said Will to whom Administration of all and singular the Goods Chattels and Credits of the said Deceased was granted they having been first sworn by Com~con duly to administer./       Ex
