David Allan was the sixth Child of James and Margaret Allan. He grew up on the
farm on lot 18, concession 5 of Eramosa township. When he married Margaret Jane
Gavin they lived with Margaret's Parents, Joseph and Eliza Garvin, on their
farm on lot 14, concession 5, Eramosa township. Thier 4 children Lilla May,
James, Albert Joseph and John were born there.

David married Margaret Jane Gavin, daughter of Joseph Garvin and Eliza. Margaret was born on 29 Jan 1857 in , Eramosa, Wellington, Ontario, died on 28 Feb 1918 in , Eramosa, Wellington, Ontario and was buried in Stone U.C., Eramosa, Wellington, Ontario.

Melvin John Allan was the fourth child of David Allan and Margaret Jane Gavin.
His nickname was "Puge". This information was supplied by Melvin Allan
son of James Allan and May Borthwick, who not only had the same first name but
had the same nickname, as well.
Melvin John Allan travelled west and did not return home again.

Melvin was divorced for many years but had 1 adopted son, Leroy. Leroy was
married when we met him on Jan 25/95 with three children - 2 girls, (one with a
spouse) and 1 son (with his spouse) and his wife.

Samuel Allan was the seventh child of James and Margaret Allan. He grew up on
the farm on lot 18, concession 5, Eramosa township and eventually bought his
own 100 acre farm on lot 23, concession 3, Eramosa township. He married
Euphemie Dickieson

Albert Joseph Allan was born in Eramosa Township Feb. 10, 1888. He was the
third child of David Allan and Margaret Jane Gavin. He grew up on the Gavin
farm with his sister,two brothers, his parents and grandparents ( Joseph and
Eliza Gavin ). In the 1909 Union Directory he is listed as living on his uncle
Samuel's farm along with his brother James. These two brothers are working on
Samuel Allan's farm under a "manhood franchise". His father David Allan is also
listed as residing at con.3, lot 22 ( misprint? ).
He married Lila W. Lawson and lived just off Brock St. in Parkdale ( Toronto ).
They moved to Orangeville to live at 13 Parson St. This house was given to them
by Lila W.'s mother.
Albert J. Allan worked for Bell Canada for 19 1/2 years, and was laid off a few
months before he was eligible to receive a pension.
One of his favorite pastimes was listening to baseball games on the radio.

Albert married Lila Wilhemina Lawson, daughter of Lawson and Grasely. Lila was born on 5 May 1899, died on 7 Aug 1981 in , Aurora, York, Ontario and was buried in Forest Lawn, Orangeville, Dufferin, Ontario.

Irene Frances Bayton was a foster child to Roy and Lillian Allan.
Her father was William Baynton and her mother was Flora Stewart.
Irene was from a family of 10. Her mother got sick and was put in an
institution out West, where the family was raised. Her aunt was Lillian
(Croft) Allan's sister - in - law. She came to live with Roy and Lillian Allan
when she was three or four years old, and raised as one of the family.

Irene married Willard Henry Thring, son of Frederick N. Thring and Marg J. Somerville, on 10 Nov 1945. Willard was born on 10 Sep 1915 and died on 4 Jan 1983.

During birth, he almost strangled by the umbilical cord but arrived mad and
determined to live. His arms and legs were moving and was quite a busy
fellow wen he was born and has been on the move ever since. He was precocious
and inquisitive and has remained that since as well as adventurous. Wendy
Gillingwater and him moved to Kitchener on two hour notice and moved in with
us. From there we learned to grow to love Wendy and eventually they were
married at Good Samaritan Church on 9 January 1988. They had been trying for a
child and Cole arrived on their doorstep in early June 1992. Gary and Wendy
were both christened as adults at West Heights Brethren in Christ on 7 October
1990.

David was born in York County Hospital approximately 3 a.m. Someone in the
next bed asked me if he was part Indian as he was so red, healthy, chubby faced
and jet black hair. I reassured her that he was not part Indian but a
beautiful healthy infant. David and Gary got into mischief as children (being
2.5 years apart) and were quite close. David was 6 years old when Rob arrived
and was a super child. Every night at 2 a.m. he was up with me to help sit,
feed and change Rob and then up at 8 to drag his tired little bones to school.
He kept that up all the time I was nursing Rob. We moved to Kitchener and
Dave came with us and finished his high school education here. He met Jennifer
and married her, eventually giving us a beautiful grandson, Joshua Scott.
