MARIE DELIMA AMANS

Marie Delima Amans' death certificate states that she was born August 1837 in Quebec, Canada to Francois Xavier Amans and Angele Morin. I do not have a christening record for Delima.

On 25 April 1858 near the age of 20 she was married to Louis Azarie Laveau. This information is in the church records of the St. Patrice Parish, Tingwick, Arthabaska, Quebec, Canada. Delima was about 26 years old and the mother of one living child when her parents died in 1864. Another child was born that same year.

In 1886 her husband, Louis, emigrated to the United States, moving to the Rice Lake, Wisconsin area, where other members of the Amans family were already living. Six years later, in 1892, Marie Delima also emigrated to the United States and joined Louis in Rice Lake. They made their home there for the remainder of their lives. The 1900 census states that she was the mother of nine children with seven children living. Six of these children are: Adelle Angelique, Marie Vitaline, Philip, Zoe, Elsie and Joseph.

Louis died sometime between 1900 and 1910. On the 1910 Federal census, Delima is shown living with her son, Philip. She was helping care for his family, because Philip's wife, Minnie, had also died by 1910.

At the age of 74, Marie Delima died 14 Jan 1912 of heart disease, in Rice Lake, Barron, Wisconsin. She was buried 16 Jan 1912 in St.Joseph cemetery, Rice Lake.
