Co. K 19th La Infantry CSA (Sgt)--Allison M. Phillips was bornin Smith Co. Ms. on 7 Dec. 1837. The family later moved toVernon Parish. Allison and Elizabeth Cooper were married inNewton Co. Tx. 18 Aug 1854. Elizabeth was born on 9 Apr 1840 inAlabama. Allison joined the Anacoco Rangers in the winter of1861. They spent the winter at Camp Moore, La. In September1863 he was wounded in the Battle of Chickamauga. His regimentsurrendered in April 1865 at Gainesville, Ga. Sgt. AllisonPhillips was shipped to Meridian, Ms where he received hisparole. He came to New Orleans where he caught a river boat andwent over to Alexandria on the Red River. From there he walkedhome. At he came up the lane to his house his hunting dogs cameout to meet him, jumped up on him and knocked him down.Elizabeth came out of the house to ask who was there neverdreaming it was Allison home from the war. Allison andElizabeth are buried on land they once owned. Ft. Polk Cem.#7.
