Roll of Honour for Nurses
The Thames Hospital Board has
established a Rollof honour to Thames nurses who have gone on active service
There was a large gathering of townsfolk to witness the unveiling of the roll,
which was placed m the main entrance of the hospital. Regret was expressed that
Miss Stewart was unable to attend. Speeches were made paying a high tribute to
the nurses and the noble work they were doing. Some speakers took the
opportunity of saying that not only those who had gone to the front, but those
who remained at home were all doing their duty, and of urging that recitation
should be provided for the latter. A new nurses' home is to be built, and a
tennis court would be a good addition. The roll of honour contained the names
of Miss Cora Anderson, now matron of Hornchurch Hospital; Sisters Mandeno,
Hawkins, Eddy, Campbell, and Carruth,
