Notes for Cerena LANE
According to her husband's 1849 court case, she married James after his son by Susannah Greenwood was born, which was probably around the same time her own son James was born or possibly after. Or its possible that she adopted the son as her own. She sued for breach of marriage contract, which may account for the single child she and James had between 1840 and 1850.
Had a brother Nolan, says one contact. A couple doors down from Cerena and James in 1850 is N.W. Lane (27 b. NC) and his wife Arminda (22 TN), and possibly his brother Bartley 22. This is Noah W. Lane m. Arminda Pendergrass. Pendergrass researchers have posted this family in various places, with the children sometimes listed with the Pendergrass name, but no one gives parents for Noah. Also, the family is listed in the 1880 census together under the Lane name.
"Sirena Lane" is listed as the mother of Martin Peek on his 1924 death certificate.
