Notes for Mark BROOKS
Came with parents and siblings from England about 1735. Said to have lived briefly in Granville, NC, but there are no records of him there. Likely that he lived in Virginia until about 1775, when he settled in Chatham Co. From 1777 until his death in about 1821, he continuous served the community on juries, as Road Overseer, etc. Built his home on the head waters of Ephraim's Creek near brother Joab.[ [755]]

He conveyed that land to his son Abner in 1816, reserving the right to live in it until his death. [1003]
