Moved to Fountain Co, IN 1836 and then to Mills Co, IA in 1852. In 1856 entered a homestead in Section 27, Twp 72, Range 40 (in Mills Co). After wife died, he went to live with his son James near Macedonia, Pottawamie Co, IA. He was an outspoken Democrat and at the beginning of the Civil War incurred the hostility of his neighbors to such an extent that he got death threats. [787]
