Wealthy Dedham clothier. Appears as a juror multiple times in Dedham records, beginning Oct. 1655, the same month his father surrendered his estate to William. John Coles surrendered land to William and his wife Ann in Sept. 1562. He was fined in 1577 for using dung on his land in the common field.
Will includes several plots in Ardley and gifts to the poor.
