Thomas was a founder of Middletown, CT. In 1650, he, John Hall, and several others settled the plantation of Massabeseck. The next year, the name was changed to Middletown, confirmed by the CT General Court in 1653. Thomas represented Middletown in the General Assembly in 1654 and 1655.[
