There are TWO Richard Swans in 1630’s MA. This is not the one that settled in Rowley.
The records of Richard’s children’s baptisms were found (by accident) in 1997 in Binfield, Berkshire. Subsequent investigation printed in TAG [
[608]] fills out the line.
The idea that Richard came to America aboard the Truelove in 1635 comes from a listing of Richard “Srayne” on that manifest. It also lists his age as 34, at least 6 years too young. However, since his sons did come in the Rebecca in April 1635, he probably did immigrate around that time.
Richard spent about 20 years in Hampton, NH, where he held several civil positions, including surveyor and selectman. He was paid 18s. for taking the county votes to Boston in 1638. He also appears in court records in several disputes involving his neighbors.
On 2 Jul 1659, Thomas Mayhew sold the rights to the island of Nantucket to a group of men including Richard Swaine, his son John, Tristam Coffin, Thomas Macy, Stephen Greenleaf and others. By 1661, Richard, his wife Jane and his sons Richard and John had moved to Nantucket.

From another post by Alice Raven:
Richard Swain who married Elizabeth Basselle was one of the early settlers of Nantucket and was born September 21, 1595 either in Berkshire or Derbyshire, England (I never bothered to clear that up once I realized he wasn't "mine.") He died April 14, 1682 in Nantucket. The Richard Swan that was being discussed in the earlier message was baptized December 23, 1607 in Gilberdyke, Eastrington, Yorkshire, England and was buried May 14, 1678 in Rowley, Essex, Massachusetts, having originally settled in Boston ca. 1634, then moving to Rowley in 1639.
Name sometimes given as Elizabeth Basselle.
