Notes for James Noble
Will, dated 23 April 1768 and proven 17 Feb. 1769 gives wife Mary a life estate in the plantation called Houston's Lott and use of timber on land called Constantinople. Sons Jonathan and James and daughters Mary Shockley, Elizabeth Davis, Rachel Porter, Naomi Dikes/Dukes and Collibra Christopher are equally given one shilling each. Son Levi gets Constantinople, while daughters Sarah and Leah get 2/3rds of the estate. The different treatment may indicate a different wife.

James evidently died before 30 December 1768, as he is listed as a witness to the will of John Bennet, written 10 Jun 1763, but he is noted as “deceased” in the record. The will was proven 30 Dec 1768.

Other wills on the list (found at http://www.ocmuseum.org/genealogy/search/will_results.asp) indicate that Elijah Christopher was the husband of Collibra - his 1805 will provided for her sister Leah Noble.
