“Henry Bowers was in the Rev. War a gunsmith at Valley Forge, located at Brushy Run river in the Branch of the Coupon. George Washington started the Free Mason at Valley Forge. Henry Bowers as a member made a very fancy powder horn with Masonic emblems on it. Henry was granted a piece of land in Hampshire Co. Wife Dorothy Astherline D. age 90. She molded bullets and cooked for 20 men.” from handwritten paper of unknown origin.
Pension recs: Private in John Foss’s company of Capt Nichols’ Regiment, General Stark’s Brigate raised to reinforce the Northern Army July 20, 1777 New Hampshire militia. Records indicate “Time in service 2 years 9 months” (not dated)
