Settled in Duxbury before 1643, when he was listed as able to bear arms. He was constable there in 1659. He later moved ot Bridgewater.
Will names wife Elizabeth, sons John, Thomas, Joseph, Samuel, Jonathan, Benjamin, younger son James, daughters Mary, Elizabeth, Jane and Sarah.[

Deeds, 14: 267] "Know all men by these Presents that We John Washburne Thomas Washburne Joseph Washburne Jonathan Washburne James Washburne Edward Seely Samuel Kingsley William Orcutt Sarah Washburne all Inhabitants of the Town of Bridgewater in ye County of New Plymouth in New England, Have Given Granted & by these Presents do Give Grant Bargain Sell Enfeoffe Confirm & forever Make over Twenty five acres of Land be it more or less whereof We are the true Owners & rightfull Proprietors unto Samuel Washburne Inhabitant in sd Town of Bridgewater, Which sd Twenty five acres is Situate lying & being in sd Town of Bridgewater near to a Place known by ye Name of South Brook lying on the head of sd Jonathan & James Washburne's Lands where their Houses stands; it being a Parcell of Land left unwilled by our Father & ffather in law John Washburne Deceased, Bounded at foot by a heap of Stones." Worcester, on Shakespear's Avon, at the age of 14 yrs. m. 1645, Elizabeth d. of Experience Mitchell, had John; Thomas; Joseph; Samuel, b. a. 1651; Jonathan; Benjamin; Mary, 1661; Elizabeth Jane; James, 1672; and Sarah. He had prob. liv. at Duxbury some yrs. but rem. bef. 1670, and mad his will 1686. Mary m. Samuel Kinsley; Elizabeth m. James Howard, and next Edward Sealey; Jane m. William Orcutt jr.; and Sarah m. 1697, John Ames.
