Before the Plymouth County Court, Josiah Conant and his wife were fined £4 for “Carnal copulation before marriage” as “convict by confession.” [526]
Josiah Conant died intestate. Inventory of his estate was taken 11 October 1721. The estate was divided, on 1 June 1729, among the widow Elizabeth; sons Joseph [eldest] and Josiah; daughters Jerusha [wife of Samuel Pratt], Mary Cobb [wife of John Cobb], Prudence Conant and Susanna Conant.
In letters of guardianship dated 13 April 1726, John Alden of Middleborough was named guardian to Joseph, Susanna, Prudence and Josiah Conant. On 21 September 1737, Josiah Conant chose his mother, Mrs. Elizabeth Conant of Middleborough as guardian. [1084]

Listed in court records in March 1748, where her daughter Jerusha Platt claims she has long been supporting her “honoured and aged Mother, Elizabeth Conant, who through maney Infermities of body has been unable to Support her Self and...that her Mother has three Other Daughters: Mary Cobb, the wife of John Cobb; Susannah Briant, the wife of Jesse Briant, both of Middleborough; and Prudance Weston of Plimouth, Widdow...apprehends She Ought to be recumpenced by her Sisters part of the aforesaid Charges She has been at and to be Eased from futher Charges...” [526], [1084]
