In his will dated Oct. 20 1575 and proved Dec. 12, 1575, John describes his property as Mandefelde in Thorley and Sawbridgeworth, Hamstalls in Thorley, Banstrete in Thorley, Hockrell Field in Bishop's Stortford, and Lewes Field, Short Croft, and Bulsans Meade in Hallingbury, Essex. These properties were given to son William, to daughter Joan BRETT, and to grandsons John and William, sons of John BIRD. Among the others named in his will were his four daughters, sons-in-law Giles BRETT and Richard POUNT, and "John Birde my brother Georgs sone." Kids: Joan, John, Alice, William, Grace, Susan.
