Savage: RELPH, RALPH, or RELF, THOMAS, Warwick, m. 1655 or 6, Mary, wid. of John Cooke of the same. But he had liv. some yrs. bef. at Guilford, there by w. Elizabeth Desborough or Disbrow, had Samuel, and his w. obt. divorce from him for his fault, and m. 1 Oct. 1651, John Johnson. He had prob. liv. some time at W. bef. getting the new w. and by her had Alice, b. 3 Jan. 1657, d. young; Thomas, 12 July 1658; Sarah, 4 Dec. 1661; and Deliverance, 20 Aug. 1666; beside Benjamin, of wh. the last four with Samuel, are ment. in his will, pro. 1682.
In "A History of the Plantation of Menunkatuck" by Bernard Christian Steiner 1897:pp127 "Thomas Relf, at first a prominent inhabitant, was divorced from his wife Elizabeth Desborough in 1650, leaving the colony, so that his estate was settled as though he were dead, and his widow afterwards, in October 1651, married John Johnson. Relf fled to Rhode Island, the cave of Adullam in those days; married again, and died there in 1682."
A source online says the “actual Providence record” of Thomas’s children reads:
The ages of Thomas Rolfe his children by Mary his wife / entered in January, 1670. Alice Daughter of Thomas Rolfe and Mary his wife was born the 13th of February in ye year 1656. Thomas sonn of Thomas and Mary Rolfe was born the 12th Day of July in ye year 1658 Sarah ye daughter of Thomas & Mary Rolfe was born [--not legible - possibly "about"] ye 4th of Decmber in ye year 1661 Deliverance Daughter of Thomas and Mary Rolfe was born ye 20th of August in ye year, 1666"
