3 Jul 1674, Indenture by Moses Lippitt son of Ann Sairle, wife of Edward Sarile, resident at Maushantatuch, in township of Providence. By consent of his father-in-law [step-father] Edward Sairle put himself an apprentice to William Austin, of the town aforesaid for the term of 15 years to learn the trade of weaver. signed Moses Lippitt(his mark-X), Edward Sairle(his mark-X), Anna Sairle(her mark-X). Witnesses, Edmund Caluerley, Moses Lippitt, John Whipple, jr. (Rogers, "Early Records of the Town of Providence," vol.5, p292)

24 Apr 1727, Providence in the Colony of Rhode Island. Jury of Inquest to the death of Edward Sarle of Providence 23 Apr 1727. Upon inquiry we find that there was a fire out near sd Edward Sarles fence; none of his family being home, he by our opinions took a hoe and went in to stop the fire, and what with the smoke and fire and his struggling to put it out, collapsed hitting his head upon a log. It is our opinion he came to his death accidentally. (Rogers, vol.9, p44).
