McClintic Family Cemetery, Greenbrier County, West Virginia
HINKLE (Hinkel), Philip, Sr.; born August 15, 1751 (Massenheim, GER); died
June 28, 1835, Unus, WV. Served with the Hesse-Hanau Erbprinz regiment
under General John Burgoyne. Taken prisoner at Saratoga in 1777.
Deserted July 1780 from POW camp in Albemarle County, Virginia. Served
the remainder the war on the side of the American Continental Army.
Married Barbary Vallmer (Fullmore).
