Hessian soldiers in the American Revolution

Rasnake, Virginia

Named after Johann Ruehrschneck

I just now found the two new pages you made for me for Johann Ruehrschneck, one under the cemetery section and one under the reunion section. They're beautiful! Thanks a million.

Also, I just noticed a section for towns and places named after Hessians. Well, there is a town in Virginia named "Rasnake", I'm attaching a map of its location. And also there was a "Rasnake" post office in Virginia (closed now) and I'm sending you an attachment with that info, and also a picture of a cancelled stamp from there. And of course there were several Rasnake and Rasnick schools, and a place called "Rasnic Holler". Rasnick-Rasnake-Rasnic are all variations in the spelling of the Hessian soldier Johann Ruehrschneck's anglicized name, which was Jacob Rasnick.

Thanks,

Marie Rasnick Fetzer, for more information contact her via the mailing list.
