American Crossroads

O beautiful for spacious skies,
For amber waves of grain,
For purple mountain majesties
above the fruited plain!
America! America!
God shed his grace on thee
And crown thy good with
From sea to shining sea!

From Sea to Shining Sea ...

Across the homelands and heartlands scattered with the graves of our ancient fathers and mothers, let us remember that America is the sum of its parts, and eras, and peoples. It is not one small belief, one small religious view, one extreme political outlook, but a broad, beautiful, diverse ongoing creation that embraces all.

Welcome to American Crossroads!

American Crossroads is a unique organization seeking to present broadly focused genealogical and historical information about our country, the immigrants and their migrations, and the unfolding American frontier -- from earliest times to about the end of the 19th century. We hope to encourage better research methodology and promote study and participation through networking, especially by using computers and the internet. Our earnest hope is to rekindle and foster a spirit of community that existed among Americans when our population was small, and when kinship and reliance upon one another were consistent American values.
We can learn much about ourselves as a united people by looking to the past. As we seek better understanding of the roles our ancestors played in the unfolding American drama, we can hold better views of what has meaning within our own lives, and gain a better view of how to establish hopeful pathways for the future of our own descendants.
