    Jacob Lantz, son of Abraham and Magdalina (Sites)
Lantz was born Feb. 26, 1820, in Pennsylvania.  He moved
with his parents to Richland County, Ohio, to Morrow
County, Ohio, and finally to Porter County, Ind., near Val-
paraiso.  In 1848, he married Maria, daughter of Benjamin
and Elizabeth (Hupert) Bear.  They lived in Porter County,
Ind. He died April 30, 1903. His descendents are:

   1. Franklin Winfield, born Jan. 14, 1849, at Mansfield, 0.
      Entered Valparaiso College in 1864, Asbury De Paw
      University in 1867, A. B. in 1873, A. M. 1875.  Founder
      and Editor of Columbus Republican.  Appointed to
      position in U. S. Treasury.  Author of Stock Tables
      N. Y. 1884.  Married Mary L. Sherman.  Died in Wash-
      ington, D. C., Jan. 10, 1927;
   2. Amos Bear, born Feb. 1, 1851 at Mansfield, O., married
      1882, Lida S. Hiland, President of Lantz Manufactur-
      ing Co., of Valparaiso, manufacturers of "Lantz Flex-
      ible Grapple Forks";
        1. Brice Hiland, born Aug. 20, 1883, married Martha
           Dolhover, is Secretary and Treasurer of Lantz
           Manufacturing Co.;
        2. Carlton Lee Nelson, a foster son;
        3. Lydia A., born July 5, 1853, married May 21, 1880, to
           Richard Shumake, resides at Valparaiso;
             1. Nellie Maud, born Apr. 7, 1881, died June 1, 1888;
             2. Franklin Howard, born Sept. 23, 1883, married
                Mary Pierson;
