    Ezra Lantz, son of Henry and Ann Maria (Smutz)
Lantz was born in Washington County, Maryland, Mar. 14,
1818. He learned the milling trade. In 1840 he married
Susannah Finfrock (born 1822), daughter of Daniel.  They
had four children.  She died Aug. 18, 1858.  In 1859 he mar-
ried Sarah Gigious (1840-1907). They had five children.
They were members of the German Reformed Church.  He
died Aug. 8, 1892.  His descendents are:

   1. William Henry Lantz, born in Keedysville, Md., Mar.
      11, 1841, educated in the village school, learned the
      miller's trade under his father, volunteered and served
      in the First Maryland Infantry B and throughout the
      Civil War.  After an honorable discharge he farmed,
      worked as a carpenter, B. & 0. express office, and
      weighmaster for an iron mill.  He married Amanda
      Lambert, Apr. 17,1861;
        1. Elmer E., born June 27, 1862, married Damaras
           Sisler, 1884;
