bequests.  In 1834, he located on the farm now owned by
L. E. Lantz and upon which the town of Jacksonburg was
built.  He died 1875.  He had one child: Samuel, see family
of Samuel Lantz (H291).

         H2a          Elizabeth Lantz            H2

    Elizabeth Lantz, daughter of John Lantz received the
balance of the land her father held in the States of Virginia
and Pennsylvania.  She married Wise.

         H31           George Lantz              H5

    George Lantz, son of Jacob and Maria (Miller) Lantz
was born Mar. 5, 1788.  In 1813 he married Miss Elizabeth,
daughter of Philip Painter (then spelt Bender), and they
had two children.  Elizabeth died Jan. 12, 1815 and Jan. 29,
1819, George married Christina Maphis, who was born 1795
and died Dec. 27, 1837.  They had seven children.  They
lived in Shenandoah County on the old home place where he
died Dec. 8, 1869.  They had children: Jacob, see family of
Jacob Lantz (H511); Elizabeth, see family of Elizabeth
Maphis (H5120); John D., see family of John D. Lantz
(H513) ; Samuel M., see family of Samuel M. Lantz (H514) ;
Mary Ann, see family of Mary Ann Rinker (H515); Cath-
erine, see family of Catherine Bennett (H516); Christina,
see family of Christina Hammond (H517) ; George Washing-
ton, see family of George W. Lantz (H5l8) ; and Robert M.,
see family of Robert M. Lantz (H5l9).

         M52        Mary Lantz Bowman            H5

    Mary, daughter of Jacob and Maria (Miller) Lantz
married John Bowman.  They were farmers and lived on
the land afterwards given them by her father, Jacob Lantz.

                     ANDREW LANTZ

            The Lantzs of Greene County, Penna.

     Andreas Lantz was born in Germany.  He came to
America in 1751 and settled in the western part of Penn-
sylvania in what is now Greene County.  In 1871 he was
assessed with 50 acres of land and in 1786 he patented an
additional 165 acres.  He had one son, Andrew, and a foster
son, Lot.  He raised Lot and left all his property to one of
his sons.  He married Margaret.
