Bolton, Lancashire

Bolton

The town of Bolton-le-Moors was divided into Little Bolton & Great Bolton until 1838 with the course of the River Coral as their boundary. Despite the "Charter of Incorporation" which joined the two together in 1838, Little Bolton and Great Bolton still appear separately on the 1881 census.
