Origin and Meaning of the name Cave

The name Cave probably is a place description, meaning a cave.


Introduction

Margaret Cave was my great great great grandmother. Daughter of Thomas and Mary Cave.


Aims of my Research

My aims would be to find out as much information as possible about the Cave Family. Who Thomas Cave's parents were but also if Margaret Cave's brothers and sisters married and had children.

My Research Results

Margaret Cave b. 1804

Margaret Cave was christenend at Skelmersdale chapel on 9th September 1804. She married Thomas Anderton of Adlington on 3rd January 1826. According to the 1841 and 1851 censuses they lived in Ince and then Hindley, near Wigan.

Thomas Cave (b. 1757)

Margaret's parents were Thomas Cave and Mary Cook. Thomas was born on 20th March 1757 and married Mary Cook on 12th March 1783 in Ormskirk, Lancashire. They had at least the following children:

John Cave b. 1783
James Cave b. 1786
Ellen Cave b. 1788
Mary Cave b. 1791
Catherine Cave b. 1793
Margaret Cave b. 1803

Henry Cave (b. 1736)

Thomas Cave's parents appear to be Henry Cave, who was born 6th April 1736 and Ellen Bullshaw.

John Cave (m. 1730)

Henry Cave was the son of John Cave and Ann Molyneaux, who married on 12th December 1730.
