Origin and Meaning of the name Lewthwaite

LEWTHWAITE is clearly a name of Viking origin. The word thwaite is an Old Norse word meaning a meadow.


Introduction

Betsy Lewthwaite of Westmorland married William Pearson in 1838 and was my ggg grandmother.

Both to trace back the Lewthwaite family as far as possible and to find out if Betsy had any brothers or sisters.

My Research Results

Betsy Lewthwaite b. 1820

Betsy Lewthwaite was my paternal great great great grandmother. She was christened on 25th January 1821 at Preston Patrick in Westmorland. She married William Pearson on 28th November 1838 at Beetham in Westmorland.

Thomas Lewthwaite

Betsy's parents were Thomas and Mary Lewthwaite.
