The Scottish Andrews Family name

SCOTLAND & IRELAND

by Mary Edith Andrews Geiger

I have been to several sessions presented by Dr. Lee Cloe on Scotland and Ireland. He is a real student of Scottish and Irish history.

These are some of the highlights of one of his presentations:

Apostle Andrew's bones were found and taken to Scotland and buried. A flag was raised at this gravesite. When the Scots were driven out of the country, most of them went to the Southeast. This flag was brought to America and was used as the base of the Confederate flag.

In Scotland there is a St. Andrews University named in honor of apostle Andrew.

When I went to the last session this past Friday, I told Dr. Cloe that my maiden name was Andrews and I would like to know if this was the origin of my Andrews surname. He said "It absolutely is."

Look for the book "Steele's Story of Scotland." Dr. Cloe says it is difficult to find. You could run into it at a yard sale.

Other books by John McDonald would be informative about Scotland.
