| John HUTTON
(1806-1876) |
John HUTTON
John Hutton was living at Millar's Lodgings, Campbells Close, Canongate at the time of his wedding to Margaret Kirkwood in 1837. They were both in their 30s, but Margaret was older and appears to have had a teenage daughter (Elizabeth Weir) from a previous relationship. Throughout the census records John is described as a labourer. The Hutton family appear to have had connections with the McGinty family which may have started when Elizabeth Weir had a relationship with William McGinty (born circa 1826, Ireland) and children including a son William (b. 1848). William junior was brought up in the household of John and Margaret Hutton, was often known as William Hutton and married their grandaughter Margaret Hutton (b. 1858).
