bullet  General Notes:

James McGinty died in North Leith Poorhouse on 17th June 1908 with his age recorded as 58. His parents are stated as Hugh McGinty and Ann Black, but I can find no other record of him if these details are correct. He is not with them inthe 1851 census. It seems very likey that this is Hugh and Ann's son James born in 1839, and the Govenor of the Poorhouse who recorded his death didn't know his age and guessed at 58 rather than 69!
In the1891 census a james McGint recorded as being 50 years old is recorded as aged 50 and an inmate in Soth Leith Poorhouse. From 1894, the North and South poorhouses were brought together into common management and there appears to have been some rationalisation with the North being quieter for the sick than the South as this was located next to an engineering works.
There is a James McGinty born in 1850 to Hugh's brother James and his wife Charloote Leishman. This James was baptised by James and Charlotte and was with them in the 1851 census as a son.
