Philip MALONE
Philip became a monk at Buckfast Abbey, Buckfastleigh entering in 1934. His Aunt, Constance Genevieve Pilley, passed on to him the family secret of applying gold leaf to vellum without it peeling when rolled and unrolled. He left Buckfast in 1947 and became a signwriter in Pimlico. He was known to be an exceptionally good calligrapher.
