William ILLINGWORTH
William was with his parents at St Lawrence Road, Tinsley, Sheffield at the time of the 1911 census. Later he was first a blacksmith in the steel works, then a blacksmith foreman and draugtsman. At the time of the 1939 Register William and his wife Margaret were living in Rotherham with his father-in-law and Margaret's sister Winnie. He is described in the Register as a Foreman Blacksmith. He worked at Hadfield's Sheffield for many years. He was a very principled man and he would never buy a house as he never wanted to owe money. His wife also claimed that he turned down an honour in the Queen's Honours List. Both these dismayed his wife as she would have likesd a legacy to leave. William died at Lodge Moor Hospital, Sheffield
